Employer and WSIB

We are a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation facility located in Oshawa and Courtice, specializing in the assessment, treatment and functional restoration of injured people. We offer many rehabilitation services to the working community to help employers reduce costs and decrease work-related accidents, as well as returning employees back to work as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Available services include:

  • Immediate assessment and treatment of injured workers
  • Financial Aid Form (FAF) completion
  • Work conditioning programs
  • Functional ability evaluations
  • Workplace assessments

Clients who have been injured at work will be scheduled for an assessment within one to three work days. Their injuries will be assessed, treatment commenced and the FAF form completed to allow for modified duties to commence immediately if appropriate. Clients are continuously progressed and reassessed. We focus strongly on a graduated return to work.

Work Conditioning Programs:

Workers who have suffered a serious injury or have been off for long periods of time due to an injury would benefit from our work conditioning program. Work conditioning programs are specifically matched to the occupation that is under consideration. The purpose of work conditioning is to simulate your work as closely as possible in a clinic environment, allowing you to strengthen your body and increase your tolerance to work activities. It consists of cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, general strengthening and work simulation tasks. The program runs f3 to 5 days a week for 4 to 8 weeks, working from two hours up to a maximum of six hours per day.

Functional Abilities Evaluation (FAE):

The Active Recovery Clinic offers one-and two-day FAE’s. This is a comprehensive assessment of the patient's functional capacities as they relate to the specific demands of the individual's occupational and/or activities of normal living. The FAE can be conducted over one or two days for four hours per day, depending on your needs. Our protocol uses standardized testing to ensure objective and reliable results.

Workplace Assessments:

An evaluation of the work area of a specific job allows for proper ergonomic principles to be applied to the layout of the work area. Employees are instructed on how to utilize their work area in the safest and most efficient manner and the suggestions of improved ergonomic work equipment is made.
